Viva Brasil
Friday, November 10th, 2006Three o’clock came fairly quickly so it was off to the hotel to get some sleep for our first day at the flying field.
We were all woken up by some early bird knocking on all our doors in the morning, so much for a sleep in. J & Alex tried to at least. On arrival to the field I thought I had been dropped of at a palace. I’ve never in my life seen a flying field designed with such great infrastructure and thought. I would be happy to move home and setup camp there any day.
After a quick boom installation of the N9 and Trex 600 we went out and put a few flights in. You couldn’t have asked for better weather. No wind and not too hot. Lunchtime was always great with all the meals being catered for. Marcus and I had a few flight for the day and had a good chance to hang out with the guys and meet some really nice people.
Saturday was the main day, yet still very casual. Again, we did a few flights including a lunchtime dual flight with Marcus and I for some newspaper photos. Had a great time flying with Marcus. I don’t think we both stopped laughing for most of the flight. After lunch we both got a joy flight in 2 Hughes 300’s that flew in for the event. It was great to get some pics of the field from the heli, thanks to the two pilots for the flights.
There were RC car tracks, a lake for boat racing, control line area so there was a lot to see. The RC cars where running Saturday so we went over there to check it out. Very entertaining seeing the 1/8th gas cars being launched over the jumps.
Saturday night we had dinner at the field, some of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten. After dinner the boys wanted to see some night flying and neither Marcus nor I had a heli decked out for that, so they guys gave us a rappy 90 and stratus to beat up on. I got handed the poor rappy and Marcus opted for Luciano’s Stratus. The usual kiss of death take off got the flight into motion. It was a blast that really got the adrenaline going for the rest of the night.
I really must say a huge thankyou to all the people in Brasil who participated in the event, in particular Alex, Nivaldo and Luciano. You all made my stay extremely enjoyable and your hospitality and generosity was greatly appreciated. Really looking forward to coming back to Brasil.
More coming
